11 Tips for Attending a Bridal Show

By Niagara Wedding Helper.com

Bridal shows...Fun... Exciting... Informative.

During the Fall and Spring seasons, you as a bride will notice many bridal events being hosted around your area. Bridal Shows, Wedding Planning Seminars and Honeymoon seminars, so many in fact, it can become rather overwhelming or confusing.

Bridal shows are a great opportunity for you as a consumer bride to meet with many wedding professionals nestled in one location. This will give you a chance to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. You as a visiting bride will also have the chance to take advantage of many special offers and freebie giveaways.

Being a prepared bride will help to make your bridal show experiences a fun filled day of planning. By following the 11 tips below you will be prepared and ready to face any bridal event you plan to attend.

1) Questions, Questions, Questions.
Set your goals before going to a show. Write down any questions that you may have for any particular wedding professional.

2) Tickets or Discounts in Advance.
Many shows will sell tickets or have free registration in advance of the show. By doing so, the show operators have a rough estimate of how many brides will be attending to prepare for goodie bags and other small giveaways of this type. Often times by pre-registering you may receive special discounts on admission or even free admission. Also, many bridal boutiques in your area may be offering discounted tickets or coupons for upcoming bridal events. Other places to look for discounts may be Wedding Web Sites, magazines and news papers.

3) Address Labels.
At bridal shows you will have numerous opportunities to enter contests for prize giveaways. To avoid writers cramp and to save yourself a lot of time, pre-print address lables with the following information included.

  • Brides name
  • Grooms Name
  • Address, City and Postal Code
  • Phone number
  • E-Mail address (See the Email tip at the bottom of this article)
  • Wedding Date

Be sure to join as many giveaways as possible. As they say... you can´t win if you don´t have a ticket.

4) Bring Someone With You.
It is always a great idea to bring someone with you to a bridal show. You will need someone to help keep your hands free by carrying all of the promotional materials you will receive. Of course the best person to have with you is you fiancé but how about also including the moms, dads, maid of honour, sister or the wedding party.

5) Leave the heavy coats in the car.
Most bridal events are indoors and may take hours to travel through. Heavy coats will only slow you down, make you hot and make your experience...well not so fun. If the weather is cool outside, consider wearing a sweater that can be tied around your waist. Some shows may have a coat check available but do not count on it.

6) Bring a Camera.
By bringing a camera to a bridal show. You have a chance to take photos of dresses, display designs or other visual items that you may wish to include as part of your wedding. Be sure to ask the wedding professional for permission before taking photos of their work.

7) Speak to professionals during the fashion show.
If a bridal show has two fashion shows scheduled during the day, plan to watch one and plan to speak to wedding professionals during the other. Wedding professionals will have more time to answer all your questions during this time because most of the other brides will be sitting through the fashion show.

8) Wear Comfortable Shoes.
You will be doing a lot of standing and walking.

9) Bring a Bottle of Water.
Some bridal events will have refreshments available and some won´t. Bring yourself a bottle of your favourite refreshment to quench your thirst.

10) Reserve a Fashion Show Seat.
If you would like to have a good seat for the fashion show, you can informally mark a seat as reserved in a couple of ways. 1) Print a reserved sign on a piece of paper and place them on the seats you want to save. 2) Place a personal item such as your sweater on the seats you wish to reserve. 3) Place yourself in a seat and wait until the show starts or have someone with you remain with the seats.
Please remember to be courteous to other brides and their guests.

11) Have Fun!!!
The whole idea of a bridal show is to provide you with as much information as possible. Have fun with the wedding professionals and you never know what the final outcome of your experience will be. Special offers, money saved and time well spent.

Email Tip.
We recommend that you create a special E-Mail address that you can use just for wedding planning. Keep your personal E-Mail address personal. The use of a special E-Mail address allows you to know that you are receiving emails for the purpose of your wedding planning only. Once your wedding plans have become complete and you no longer wish to receive wedding related Emails, simply cancel the E-Mail account and you are done...no more hassles.
