Photography...Quality vs Quantity
I will start this article off with a story.
The other day, I was at my grandmother´s house. I noticed two photographs that I had seen before, hanging on her living room wall,
that suddenly got me thinking about them in a new way. They were framed wedding photographs from my mother´s and my aunt´s
wedding. My grandmother´s daughter´s wedding photos were hanging there beautifully on the wall, side by side.
These prints have been there for twenty years now. They are a perfect representation of a mother´s pride in the girls she has
raised. Every guest my grandmother has ever had in her home has looked at these photographs. Over the years, my grandmother has added
and removed other portraits on that wall, redecorated, painted and replaced furniture in that room, but these two pictures have remained
the same. They are that important. They are irreplaceable.

This story represents the essence of wedding photography. These photographs portray a moment frozen in time; they signify the beginning
of a couple´s life together. That moment, captured timelessly through the magic of photography, has been preserved in my
grandmother´s heart forever. She has been through both good and bad times in that room, the prints have been the center of
conversation on countless occasions and they have been both cried and laughed over.
The significance of wedding photography is rather obvious. Although I feel that the importance of choosing the right photographer is
sometimes overlooked. You need to find a photographer whose work you admire. If it is the only time in your life that you splurge and do
what you want, then do it when choosing your wedding photographer!

Choose a photographer whose talent, creativity and artistic abilities you appraise. Choose that photographer whose work keeps you going
back to look one more time. Base your choice of photographer on quality, not quantity. Invest in a photographer whose work you respect,
instead of paying for a package with all the bells and whistles from a photographer based on price alone. Everyone loves a great deal,
but is the preservation of your one special day the best thing to go bargain hunting for?
If you choose the photographer you love, and pay for their talent to photograph your wedding, you know that you will always have that
foundation of great photographs. If you cannot afford a package with all the extras such as prints and albums, you can always go back
and order the extras later, as you still have that set of beautiful images to work with. Alternatively, if you choose a photographer
based on price, or quantity of items in the package, and not on the quality of their work, you will not necessarily have beautiful
photographs to work with in the future. You may be disappointed in the quality of the prints; my grandmother wouldn´t have hung
those two beautiful photographs on her wall for this long if they were of poor quality. Twenty years down the road, you will wish you
went with the photographer you loved. In time, you´ll appreciate quality over quantity.
Think of wedding photography as an investment in your life, and in the lives of those you love. This investment, like the love you have
for each other, is timeless, and, the return from this investment will be with you for your entire life. Your memories will hang on
your loved ones walls for years to come. Invest wisely.
