Tipping your Wedding Professionals
Many times when I meet with Bride the inevitable question comes up who do I tip?
Well the tipping rules: 10% tip is alright, 15% is average, 20% is giving for great service.
Before you decide to tip anyone, make sure the tips and gratuities are not already included in your
contract with the business or company. Many vendors will have tips and gratuities already included in the total.
Service charges on the other hand are not considered tips or gratuities. Always ask to make sure, this way you
won´t double tip.
Prepare your tips ahead of time in sealed envelopes. The best etiquette is to give cash instead of cheques.
Designate a trusted person to hand out the tips. Pick someone like your host, wedding planner, best man, or one of the
fathers. The tips should be handed out before the end of your wedding night. Thank you cards are also a great way to
show your appreciation to your vendor for a job well done. Your thank you card may be used as a testimonial for other
brides when they consider choosing that vendor.
A thank you card does not need to be given out the day of your wedding.
It is not necessary to tip the owners of the business but instead tip the employees that are providing the
service. If the person providing the service is the company owner as well, a simple thank you card will be enough unless
they go out of their way to provide.
Persons you don´t have to tip:
Although some could benefit from a thank you card to gain future clients.
