Bees Wax Taper Candles
Submitted by Cheryl Rogers
Free Download: Adobe Acrobat PDF | MS Word
This is a wedding favor that can be placed upon the dinner plates at the wedding
reception. You can color-coordinate the candles to match your wedding colors.
Supplies:
-
Sheets of bees wax (Colors of choice)
-
Bulk candle wick
-
Blow dryer
-
Ruler
-
Sharp blade
-
Ribbon
-
Dried flowers
-
Small tags to write message on.
Instructions:
- Lay a bees wax sheet flat on a cutting board and measure 1" down from top left
corner and 1" up from the bottom right corner and cut using the sharp blade from
1 point to the other. Slightly warming the wax with the blow dryer will allow the
wax to cut easier.
- After the cut has been made cut a piece of wick 2 times the length of the long edge
of the cut wax plus an extra 2"
- Starting with 1 piece of wax, warm the wax slightly and place the wick along the long
edge of cut piece. Tightly fold the edge over the wick and while the wax is still warm,
continue to roll until your candle has been made.
- With the remaining long piece of wick repeat the process with the other cut piece of wax
- You will now have 2 candles joined by the wick
- Tie dried flowers together with the candles with a 12" piece of ribbon adding a
thank you tag through a punched out hole
Try rolling 2 different color waxes together to make 1 candle. The 2 pieces
will need to be offset by about ½". This process will double the amount
of wax used but yields a far more attractive candle keepsake.
For a little added flare, slightly heat the outside of the candles and roll
in glitter.
Notes:
If you have Microsoft Word, you can use
one of the label templates to print multiple copies of your thank you message,
then just cut them out and punch holes in the end to use for tying.
Sample thank you note:
"We share a burning
passion for one another
and now we would love
to share it with you"
